President Rosemary Thurston called the RFT General Membership meeting to order on 08/11/06 at 7:20 AM in the RTC Cafeteria.
There were 43 members who signed the attendance sign-in sheets.
The minutes from the 06/30/06 General Membership meeting were approved.
Rosemary reported that effective Fall Quarter there all faculty members will be using the new recertification process.
The FY2008-2009 instructional calendar was approved for recommendation to Adminstration. The calendar contains a 6.5 hour instructional day for Summer Quarter.
Rosemary and Gary Neill gave a "heads-up" on several issues and asked members to begin thinking about them in order to give feedback to the incoming union officers.
Rosemary asked for volunteers to work on several union committees starting Fall Quarter.
Nancy Adkins gave a report on the AFT national convention that she and Tami Rable attended in Boston on 07/19-23/06.
Rosemary introduced the new officers that were elected on 06/30/06. The new officers will take office on 09/18/06. They are:
- President = Jack Devine
- Vice President = Michele Lesmeister
- VP of Communication = Shannon Sharpe
- VP of Finance = Brian Thompson
- VP of Part-Time = Connie Tran
- VP of Personnel & Past President = Rosemary Thurston
- VP of Political = Gary Neill
- VP of Rights & Responsibilities = Tami Rable.
Incoming President Jack Devine encouraged members to get involved in the union and also asked members to give feedback to the officers as various issues came up.
